Groom your cat, maintain its hygiene and keep it in the best of health. Breeds like, Siamese, Burmese and Cornish rex needs least grooming and while all Shorthairs, American or British or Scottish demands special cat grooming. Here are a few general cat grooming tips for the next Fashion show, better get them used to grooming from their kitten days.
Bathing : In general, cat looks clean but to keep a greasy coat, allergies and simple dirt away from them, a good bath is a must, never wait for your cat’s approval on this matter. This is the most important part of grooming cats. Damping : Use your hands first to squeeze water from your cat’s body then rap it with a towel. You are free to use blow dryer with a minimum speed but be careful in the areas like tail, belly and lower legs as they have least tolerance there. While drying up the upper body, use the dryer to the opposite direction of the lay of hairs. Combing : Choose a cat comb of minimum 4.5 inches like Pin brush or bristle brush or rubber curry brush with both coarse and fine teeth and comb from front to back by diverting the cat’s attention from this hardest trial. Well, you do have to take up the labor of grooming cat. Cleaning Eyes : While dealing with the most sensitive area eye, be extra cautious. Persian breeds have a wide area between tear-ducts and nose, often have brown satin of oxidized tears in the lower eyelids and near about areas. Make a preparation of 1/8 table spoon sea salt and half cup of boiling water and freeze it for one week, use a cotton ball dipped in this solution in lukewarm temperature and now clean the eyes gently. Cleaning Ears : After bathing fold the ears and clean it tenderly with a cotton ball, but if cranky, foul smelling remains is found, you better run to a doctor for expert advice. Cleaning Teeth : Proper care of gum, teeth and mouth is needed, therefore apply a wet cloth dip in salt and baking soda and rub softly and cautiously on the tooth surface. Trimming Nails : Trimming of toenails should be regular as it guards your floor and furniture from obnoxious scratching and helps your cat to walk freely and majestically as well. Catch the paw, press under the pad, make the nail stretch out, then cut the nail tip extra cautiously avoiding the sensitive pink vein.
